Re: MATMEET 10 - CANCELLED
Gonna be waist high. Also the winds are dropping as the day goes on so later morning might be the best bet full stop. That gives us a the decision to make between all three spots.
MP is central I guess.
It could be flat but I do think there will be a mattable wave (but don't blame me if there isn't!)
Cheers

Re: MATMEET 10 - CANCELLED
Right then. f*ck it. Mawgan Porth, 11am on Saturday. If there's no surf we can all have a pub lunch and talk mats. Nice and central for everyone coming. Hopefully a waist high wave. If not, those up for the trip can check out the N.C. spot later on.
I fully understand if this is all too sketchy for people who have to travel. A real shame the current swell lighting up both coasts couldn't have waited for a couple of days.
See y'all there!!!

Mawgan Porth @ 10.30- 11am.
Meet outside the TransSurf surf shop (nice bellyboards in there).
Get there for about 1030 and we'll mill about for about a half hour. If people are later than that then they'll have to catch us up.

Re: MATMEET 10 - CANCELLED
That's an awkward time of the day. Kind of steals most of the AM and PM. Would we not do better to meet really early and catch somewhere on the push? Just a thought.

Re: MATMEET 10 - CANCELLED
The trouble is, high tide is at 9. Earlier down West. By the time we get people together and get in we'll just end up with backed off high tide slop.
0530 is too early for most. Especially those travelling.
G
PS "The push" and bigger surf is a myth.

Just in case people aren't familiar with MP, the arrow in the embedded map shows where to meet. There's plenty of parking around.

I wasn't thinking of the push in terms of bigger surf just gatting the session in whilst the tide is pushing before the onset of the high tide slop
Re. the time. Your probably right, a dawny would be pushing it for those travelling.

Re: MATMEET 10 - CANCELLED
Not that I'm pessimistic, but can I suggest that those of us that are that-way-inclined (and I know there's a few) bring there spearfishing paraphernalia to the meet just in case it is as flat as a pancake!

Still a bit nippy for me for that I think. When the sea hits 12C I'll give it a go.

Gutted. I was keen for you to show me your wood!

Piskian managed last night and this morning in a 3mil. He did get a little chilly after a couple of hours as there was a fair bit of waiting about so you can decide from that I guess. Certainly no need for gloves, boots, hat, etc.
It was waste to chest high this morning at Perranporth til the tide got too high so hopeful we'll get a little something tomorrow. The wind flattening it is my worry but MP can make something out of nothing so we'll just have to hope. A UKMS pasty munch is my call if it's not on. Be good to all catch up.

Good luck fellas! Hope its a good 'un.
I'll be on the water up this end tomorrow afternoon but in a boat, which won't be a patch on matting-awesomeness I'm sure.

Re: MATMEET 10 - CANCELLED
Well, that didn't happen. Only 4 came in the end (Bod, Bony, Graham German and myself). Certainly can't blame people for bailing though as it was blown flat by the wind as feared.
Still, the four of us did sneak off to a North Coast swell amplifier but it was still tiny (and if that place is tiny it really is tiny). Anyway, I had fun on my paipo and Graham on a bellyboard. Bod and Bony even broke out their mats!
Strangest thing was... there was a bit of a crowd!!!
Anyway, back to issues at hand, we were all in agreement that there was no way we were calling that a meet so Matmeet 10 has been postponed until August. I'll get a poll up for dates dreckly.
Hopefully the Noo Yoik crew will have better luck.

Hell,you should've checked Tragic Peeweed.Y'know they;re always right....

If I wasn't working to cover all those Notional Truss staff, who, despite being retired, moving down here, taking local people's employment opportunities and collecting state pension, company pension AND their salary, take obscene amounts of holiday in a seasonal job, despite not having any children of school age,and who whinge about being penniless whilst driving pristine 2012 model Honda CRVs,
I'd have been with you.

Not a breath of wind today. A surprise small wave on the South Coast too
Basically Mother Nature shafted us on this one.
