I've been land bound since the November meet and i'm going a bit stir crazy, particularly with the North coast breaking like it was at the end of last week.

Due to an ongoing back injury i'm not allowed in the water until at least March so I won't be at the meet

Will watch this space re: the meet. Gagging for a surf, but there would have to be a wave for me to drive 8 hours to get there. Fingers crossed! Oh yeah, any suggestions of places to stay in the area?

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Filming at K bay won,t be easy as most of the waves break a long way out only the bench can you get near with a land based camera but the trouble with the bench is it is a two peak reef set up a good right and a shallow left. This is not the place for party waves if it is any size you would not want to get caught inside with the waves breaking inshallow water over Granite Do you remember that picture of the surf matter at Bounemouth I think his mates all surf at K bay and this how they get there footage by using a mat, some thought should go in mounting a camera on a small mat. If it is onshore with swell the wave is in the middle of the bay and even further out. The ledges go for at least two miles so finding some peaks to ourselves won,t be a problem but there is not much access to the shore as the waves finish at the base of the cliffs

What Blimp said makes perfect sense, however if there is a wave an early session at the pier before the crowds could be do able, with the pier a perfect place to film, followed by a second sesh over at k`bay, which would be about an hour`s drive away

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Unless things change not looking that clever, some windswell but no real groundswell on any forecasts I have seen, so all we are likeley to get is a messy onshore wave. K bay needs groundswell

Well, we can surf wherever. Always a likelihood that that's what's on offer up there.
I still say we keep wood as a backup.

Right then. Let's get confirmation of who's coming so we know who we're waiting for when we hook up.

Yep, going to be a flat as a pancake not to late to call it off and try again when we have some waves. You really want to see the K Bay when it,s firing and next week will be a wasted journey

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
I'm slightly reticent to cancel this early after last time. That's why I wanted to wait til Thursday to call it.
Right now it looks like a fairly respectable swell around my way for Saturday. Will that not get up there? Doesn't have to be K-Bay if other places will get the swell. You boys have the job of calling it of course.

Where are you seeing this swell forecast ?
I am looking at Windguru which tends to be more accurate down this neck of the woods. Need at least 6ft on the channel wave buoy to be a goer if Kbay is flat then everything else will be flat.
Will look on A1 surf tomorrow

I'm doing a Windguru/MSW combo routine which is generally reliable for here once you get used to the subtleties!
Bamfum looks like it'll be shoulder or maybe maybe a touch more at the mo. You really never know on our coast though do ya?
If people are happy to hang on then I say call it Thursday.

Re: MATMEET 9 - 25/26 Feb, 2012
Have to disagree somewhat with Blimp as at the moment it is looking like a possible cracking day could be on for Saturday, with good groundswell and offshore winds, if it pans out the way the pressure charts and winds are looking right now.

Message from Gavin at Traditional Surfing Co.
Can anyone in West Cornwall grab these? Be great to give em a crack.
I'll put up a prize for best bellyboard wave too!
